WSJ: Half of Humanity Descends from an Ancient Culture in Ukraine.

According to DNA research, it has been established that half of the Earth's population descends from the Yamnaya culture, which existed in the territory of Ukraine 5,000 years ago.
Historians and linguists have searched for the original cradle of the Indo-Europeans for centuries, and a team of geneticists from Harvard Medical School confirmed that the genetic birthplace of the Yamnaya culture is located in Kherson region, in the village of Mykhailivka.
By spreading genes and ways of life, people from various regions of Eurasia spread from Portugal to Mongolia. This process significantly influenced the genetic and cultural heritage of the world. Although the language of the Yamnaya culture has not survived in written form, linguists have partially reconstructed it.
Scientists have established that this culture may be the ancestor of 400 modern languages. The Maidanetske settlement in Ukraine was previously named the first group settlement in the history of humanity.
