The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhyi, refuted on Sunday reports that Kyiv was informed in advance about the telephone conversation between the newly elected US President Donald Trump and the head of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
"The reports (in Washington Post) that the Ukrainian side was informed in advance about the probable conversation are not true. Ukraine could neither support nor oppose this call," Tykhyi told the news agency Reuters, reported by Ukrinform.
The Washington Post, citing its own sources, reported that Trump and Putin spoke on the phone on Thursday and discussed the war in Ukraine. The publication claims that Kyiv was informed about this conversation and did not object to it taking place.
