In Malaysia, the company requires employees to confirm vacation through geolocation.

The head of one Malaysian company demanded that his subordinate provide geolocation to prove that the woman is indeed on vacation. Employees who do not provide proof will be considered to have missed work without a valid reason, even if they submitted a request for annual leave the day before. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing South China Morning Post (SCMP).
A Malaysian resident shared on social media that her employer requires employees to provide proof of their whereabouts during vacations. The company will also keep leave applications 'under review' until convincing evidence or photos from the vacation spot are provided. This provision applies even to those employees who are on sick leave or unpaid leave.
The incident occurred when an employee of the company traveled to an island off the coast of Malaysia. The woman ignored the management's request and refused to share her location. As a result, she received several calls from her boss.
The event caused outrage on social media, where users supported the Malaysian woman, claiming that management violates employees' personal boundaries. The woman did not disclose the company's name but announced the possibility of contacting the Ministry of Labor if pressure from management continues. According to Malaysian labor law, workers are entitled to at least eight days of paid annual leave per year.
The reported news reflects the situation that arose in a Malaysian company where management requires employees to provide proof of their whereabouts during vacations. This step has caused outrage on social media and raised the issue of violating workers' personal privacy. Resolving such situations may require intervention from the Ministry of Labor.Read also
