Unexpectedly low price for eggs - which supermarket to look for.

July 2025 did not bring the long-awaited decrease in the price of chicken eggs. Supermarkets have not lowered prices for several consecutive months, only occasionally offering discounts on certain positions in the assortment. It is interesting to find out which store will be more profitable for consumers to purchase a pack of eggs.

We found out the current prices for chicken eggs in various supermarket chains as of July 8, 2025. The indicators are at the following levels:

• Varus - from 49.90 UAH (category C2);
• Silpo - from 56.99 UAH (category C2);
• Aushan - from 57.90 UAH (category C1);
• ATB - from 59.90 UAH (category C1);
• Fora - from 59.90 UAH (category C1);
• Novus - from 60.39 UAH (category C1);
• Metro - from 66.46 UAH (category C2);
• MegaMarket - from 67.70 UAH (category C2).

As it turns out, visitors to Varus will save the most on a pack of chicken eggs. For maximum benefit, it is recommended to buy ungraded products, which are traditionally cheaper. In Varus, single eggs cost 3.99 UAH each, so a dozen will cost 39.90 UAH. This is 10 UAH less compared to the cheapest pack.

Where are the discounts on eggs

Sometimes supermarkets introduce discounts on products to stimulate sales. As of July 8, promotions are available to consumers in several stores. For example, at Silpo, cheaper guinea fowl eggs are sold for 179 UAH instead of 199 UAH for a pack of 6 (a 10% discount).

At Varus, there are traditionally markdowns on products nearing their expiration dates. Ukrainians can buy a packed dozen at 50% off. Thus, the price is even less than 40 UAH. Novus offers C1 category eggs for 60.99 UAH instead of 68.32 UAH (-11%) until July 9 inclusive. At Fora, discounts on some items reach 13%.

Let us remind you that food inflation in 2025 is expected to be at the level of 12-15%. Experts predict that in July-August will begin to fall. This applies to seasonal vegetables, chicken eggs, dairy and meat products.
