“I am constantly being offered to go into politics. I am not ready for this. I do not see myself as a Ukrainian politician at all. I have a career, I plan to be in big sports at least until I am 40 years old. Two years in boxing? God willing, yes. I want to be there. I have many projects that we are currently working on – the development of sports, not only boxing but on a broader scale.”However, the boxer stated that he is ready to become the Minister of Sports of Ukraine:
“Minister of Sports? It doesn't seem like a political position to me. Well, it's politics, but a different kind. If I were offered to become Minister of Sports tomorrow? I would refuse. If I never become it, I won't be upset.”Earlier, Sportico published a ranking of the highest-paid athletes of 2024, in which Oleksandr Usyk took the seventh position. According to experts, he earned $122 million last year.
