When choosing tires for crossovers, SUVs, and pickups, car owners often pay attention only to the size and brand. However, it is important to remember that there is no universal tire; therefore, they must be chosen based on parameters, taking into account the conditions and purpose of use. This was reported by ATL.
Conditions of Use
- High-Performance Tires. HP (High Performance). Used on quality roads at speeds up to 210 km/h.
- Highway Tires. HT, HT+, H/T (Half Terrain). Designed for both asphalt and gravel roads.
- All-Terrain Tires. AT, AT+, A/T (All Terrain). Can be used on various roads and off-road.
- Mud Tires. MT, MT+, MT (Mud Terrain). Recommended for off-road use.
- Off-Road Tires. (Off-Road) designed for extreme tourism and competitions.
Tire Profile
The size of the tire can be determined by the marking, for example, 205/55R16, where the first number indicates the width of the profile, and the second - the height as a percentage of the width. A wider profile means better braking characteristics.
Load and Speed Indices
These indicators indicate the maximum load that the tire can withstand. Following the manufacturer's recommendations for the car is important. Mounting tires with the appropriate load indices is allowed.
Additional Marking
- Extra Load or XL - a reinforced tire that can withstand slightly more load.
- Outside and Inside - indication of the inner and outer side of the tire.
- Rotation - a marking on tires with directional tread pattern, indicating the direction of rotation.
- Rain Tires - information about rain protection.
