On Thursday, September 25, Polish customs officers recorded a record case of undeclared cash at the border. During the inspection of the "Kyiv-Przemyśl" passenger train, a colossal amount of 355,000 euros and 46,000 US dollars was found in the luggage of a Ukrainian citizen.
The Subcarpathian Customs and Tax Service in Przemyśl reported that Polish customs officers detained a Ukrainian woman who attempted to bring a significant amount of cash across the border without declaring it. In total, she was hiding 355,000 euros and 46,000 US dollars.
The woman declared the transport of currency amounting to only 20,000 euros, but a detailed inspection revealed a significantly larger amount. A protocol for the violation was drawn up against the offender, and she was fined 50,000 zlotys. After this, a criminal case was initiated. Let's remind, that every person crossing the European Union border is obliged to declare cash in the amount of 10,000 euros or more.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 130 similar violations have been recorded at this section of the border, totaling more than 2.6 million zlotys. Particularly many cases of undeclared cash were detected at the Przemyśl-Medyka railway checkpoint - over 60% of the total number.
Recently, another Ukrainian citizen tried to bring more than 350,000 zlotys in cash across the border without declaring it. For this violation, he had to pay a fine of 17,700 zlotys.
Earlier, information appeared that the tax authorities might be able to detect the money of Ukrainians abroad.
