Ukrainians to Be Charged a Penalty: What Debtors Face for Utility Bills.

The company 'Kyivenergo' has begun applying penalties to debtors who fail to pay their bills for an extended period. This was reported by the company's press service.
Currently, according to data from November, 22% of debtors have fully or partially paid the fines, and several clients have requested debt restructuring. If debtors continue to ignore fines and warnings, 'Kyivenergo' will take them to court. The enforcement service is currently considering more than 3,500 such cases, with the total amount of recovery around 200 million hryvnias.
'Kyivenergo' also noted that when recovering debts through enforcement services, the amount owed automatically increases by 10% due to enforcement fees. If a debtor does not comply with a court decision, the enforcement service may block their bank accounts or seize their property.
“The practice of applying penalties continues. In December, over 90 thousand clients who ignore payment for heating saw penalties applied to their bills. Kyivenergo urges not to accumulate debts and to pay for the services provided in a timely manner,” the statement said.
Clients can also contact 'Kyivenergo' with a request for debt restructuring to avoid penalties and further court procedures. This can be done remotely through the municipal service center or directly at the service center. A restructuring agreement will allow for paying off the debt in installments, which will not overly burden the family budget.
It should be noted that 'Kyivenergo' began applying penalties from July 2024.
It is also worth mentioning that Popenko commented on how Ukrainians suffer from problems with electricity and heating.
