Ukraine at UN: Russian Occupying Power Discriminates Against Indigenous Peoples.
Ukraine is confident that the indigenous peoples will become free after the withdrawal of Russian troops from the temporarily occupied territories, the Ukrainian delegation at the UN stated.
Natalia Mudrenko, advisor of Ukraine's permanent representation to the UN, spoke about Russia's control over the occupied territories, where detentions, torture, and forced disappearances occur. She also highlighted the imposition of Russian citizenship, forced relocations, and deportations.
Moreover, the Russian regime banned the Mejlis, the body of the Crimean Tatar people. This violation was recognized by the UN International Court.
Currently, more than 280 Ukrainian citizens are detained and prosecuted on fabricated charges, of whom 212 are Crimean Tatars, Mudrenko reported.
