According to high-level sources, Russia has an underwater research program managed by the Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research. Russian intelligence operatives use the reconnaissance ship 'Yantar', equipped with unmanned underwater vehicles.
The disclosed facts indicate a presence of tension and activity from Russia in the maritime space. Great Britain is considering enhancing measures to protect its underwater infrastructure.
