Syrskyi: Russia has launched an offensive in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

Active offensive in the Zaporizhzhia direction

During a meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced the start of an active offensive by Russian troops in the Zaporizhzhia direction. According to Syrskyi, the Ukrainian defense forces are holding the enemy back and inflicting serious losses on them. Enemy troops have intensified their actions in several directions, particularly in Zaporizhzhia.

“The defense forces continue to hold off the enemy, causing them significant losses. The main efforts of the enemy are concentrated in the Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Lyman, and Novopavlivka directions, as well as in border areas with the Russian Federation in Sumy region. They have significantly intensified in the Zaporizhzhia direction, where active offensive actions are being conducted,” Syrskyi emphasized.

Additionally, Syrskyi noted that in May the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully neutralized enemy forces and their defensive potential within the territory. Using DeepStrike, strikes were made on 58 facilities in the territory of the Russian Federation - military facilities were damaged, and the capabilities of the aggressor's military-industrial complex were destroyed, including production capacities for explosives and strike drones.

Situation in the Sumy direction

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky warned about the accumulation of forces by Russian occupiers in the Sumy direction, where more than 50 thousand Russians have been concentrated. According to the head of the Sumy regional state administration Oleh Hryhorov, four populated localities in the region are under the control of the Russian Federation.

Since April, enemy forces have begun to intensify assault operations around Tikhyi in Kharkiv region. Minor successes of the enemy occurred in mid-April, but now the military is trying to strengthen their positions, which has been partially successful.
