The Return of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant under Ukraine's Control Will Open New Opportunities for Cooperation with the USA - Halushchenko.

Energy Minister German Halushchenko stated that the United States and Ukraine have an interest in returning the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant under Ukraine's control. Restoring control over the plant will provide new opportunities for cooperation, particularly in electricity export. Ukraine also needs more electricity for the reconstruction of the country. Halushchenko noted that the situation with the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant requires urgent resolution.
The minister emphasized that leaving the plant under Russian control is unacceptable, even if it is not operational. This threatens the development of nuclear energy, as attracting investments in this sector will be difficult when one country can seize and control the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. The minister warns that it is necessary to demonstrate that force cannot seize nuclear facilities of any size without consequences.
During the discussion, it was noted that Russian attacks on energy infrastructure pose a serious threat to nuclear safety. This concerns not only the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant but also three other nuclear power plants that continue to operate in Ukraine. Over the past year, more than 150 incidents have been recorded where Russian missiles or drones flew over these plants or near them.
