Ukrainians honor the memory of heroes
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we will remember Denis Smirkalov.
Denis Smirkalov, known as Vechir, was a senior sergeant who participated in combat operations from the first days of the war. He defended his native Korabelny district of Mykolaiv and carried out missions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in southern Ukraine. In the summer of 2023, he was killed during one of the combat tasks. His wife, Tatyana Smirkalova, posted about it online, noting how devoted he was to his family and his work.

Denis took part in numerous operations and was a leader for his unit. He possessed analytical thinking and quick reaction, which allowed him to make decisions in the most difficult situations. His feat was honored with numerous awards that testify to his outstanding services to Ukraine.

- Order 'For Courage' III degree
As of today, there are only 38 days left to sign the petition to posthumously grant Denis Smirkalov the title of Hero of Ukraine. His relatives and comrades hope for proper recognition of his contribution to victory. His heroic act and self-sacrifice will be remembered forever.
