The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martynkiw, conducted a survey on social media regarding the use of the Russian language and the upbringing of children. In his post, Martynkiw referred to the words of Bohdan Beniuk, suggesting that beating children could 'instill' pride in the Ukrainian language.

Among the proposed options, the most popular was - that children should not be beaten. The second place was taken by the option 'Pride in language is instilled by personal example', and in third place - 'Parents should be punished for inadequate teaching'.

Nearly four thousand people participated in the survey for the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk.

Bohdan Beniuk's Position

People's Artist of Ukraine, Bohdan Beniuk, urged Ukrainians not to be afraid to defend their position and to respond decisively to manifestations of the Russian language. He emphasized the importance of raising children with patriotic values and using the Ukrainian language in schools.

We are fighting, we are winning. We all fight with anyone, anywhere. And we all hate fiercely those who use the Russian language. If you hear Russian - be careful. If they respond harshly, don't get angry, as there won't be enough nerves. If they reply, just spit in their face - said Beniuk.

Beniuk also noted that it is essential to adhere to language legislation and speak Ukrainian in all public places and schools.

It is essential not to miss the moment of education. We make a mistake regarding the language that the teachers speak in schools, the language used after breaks, and how teachers adhere to language legislation. We do not pay attention to this - he said.

Beniuk believes that if children are beaten, they will take pride in the Ukrainian language.

Increase in Disapproval

Ukraine is witnessing an increase in the percentage of the population that believes Russian should not be taught in Ukrainian schools. In recent years, this opinion was supported by 52% of the population, and now it stands at 58%. Meanwhile, the percentage of those who believe that Russian should be taught has decreased from 42% to 38%.
