Macron: the peacekeeping contingent will be positioned in strategic locations
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the idea of a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine, supported by France and the United Kingdom, involves military personnel present on Ukrainian territory ensuring security and deterrence at strategic positions. Their task will be to monitor the ceasefire regime along the contact line under the auspices of the UN.
President Macron explained that the contingents to be deployed in Ukraine will have bases, conduct training for Ukrainian military forces, and provide logistics. This step is evidence of France and the United Kingdom's readiness to defend Ukraine in the event of new aggression from Russia.
