Bribery for border crossing - what threatens a resident of Odesa region.


A resident of the Odesa region attempted to leave the country without the necessary documents. He tried to bribe the border guard, but the guard refused and reported to the management. Now he faces restriction or imprisonment.
This information was received from the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Details of the Case
The man attempted to leave the country together with his mother-in-law, who is disabled, through the 'Starokozache' border crossing. However, it turned out that he did not have the necessary documents.
Seeing that he would not be able to leave, the traveler tried to 'resolve' the situation by offering a bribe to the border guard. However, the border guard refused and reported this to his superiors.
What punishment awaits
The man has been charged under Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Offering, promising, or providing an improper benefit to a public official). Under this article, he could face 2 to 4 years of restriction or imprisonment.
It should be noted that recently there were reports of the detention of an Odesa official for receiving a bribe and also about a police officer who demanded payment for nighttime passage.
