Ani Lorak secretly received a new Ukrainian passport. The lawyer explained why.

Lawyer Oleksandr Khaminsky confirmed that singer Ani Lorak renewed her Ukrainian passport. This became possible thanks to new rules for citizens who have a trident passport and live in Russia. According to Khaminsky, if she had an empty document about her stay in Russia, it could have been considered illegal under the new rules that apply to all Ukrainians in the Russian Federation without legal grounds. He added that the singer already has a residence permit in Russia and applied for Russian citizenship last year.
The Russian Telegram channel Mash previously reported that Ani Lorak secretly renewed her Ukrainian passport. The absence of diplomatic representation of Ukraine in the Russian Federation forced the singer to do this outside the aggressor country, possibly in Georgia, Armenia, or another country. The channel also reported that after this, Lorak submitted her updated data to the Russian tax service to continue her performances in Russia.
Additionally, it turned out that Lorak updated the information of her Russian individual enterprise. She informed the Russian Social Fund about her registration as a contributor to mandatory pension insurance. It is worth noting that this area of social insurance in the Russian Federation guarantees citizens the right to receive a pension on various grounds. Ani Lorak is a citizen of Ukraine who registered her enterprise in the Russian Federation.
After the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Ani Lorak disappeared from the Ukrainian stage and focused on performances in Russia. She did not condemn the Russian invasion in 2022 and remained living in Moscow. In November 2024, the President of Ukraine stripped her of the honorary title 'People's Artist of Ukraine'.
